The Goldfinger Brewing Company is a lager focused microbrewery located in Downers Grove, two blocks northwest of the Fairview Metra station.

The Goldfinger family knows beer! From the mid-1800s till the early 1900s, Goldfingers across Central Europe sold hops, malted barley, and crafted beers on brewing equipment that they designed and manufactured. At their St. Philip Street brewery and pub in Krakow, in a bygone era, locals would exclaim, “na Zdrowie!” as they clinked together mugs filled with their crisp brews.

Today, the robust brewing tradition of our ancestors is reborn at Goldfinger Brewing Company of Downers Grove, Illinois. Combining traditional European methods with American creativity and innovation, a genuine descendant of the Goldfingers crafts only the most aromatic and deliciously flavorful lager style beers. Some may know, selecting the town of Downers Grove as the home of the revival of the Goldfinger brewery wasn’t done with eyes closed finger scrolling across a map. It is where our founders grew up. A centerpiece of their childhood was @lyman_woods . Before wood chipped paths and the interpretive center were ever established, Tom and his family would explore unbeaten paths across the Illinois prairie, crush acorns under their shoes beneath mature oak trees, and breathe the cold winter air playing ice hockey on the frozen marsh. Now, we get a chance to give back to a woods that gave us so much. We partnered with Lyman Woods and @downersgroveparks to brew a special small batch of Honey Kellerbier using honey harvested straight from the comb of the Lyman Woods bees. The beer is unfiltered, light, malty, with subtle aromatics of honey. Over the weekend, me and Alison had the pleasure of representing our Downers Grove brewery in Littleton, New Hampshire @schillingbeerco Oktoberfest. This is our third year in a row having the distinct honor of pouring at this special gathering of some of the best breweries across the country, so it might be time to call it a tradition.Besides the chance to reunite with industry friends in a picturesque location, we like to attend these festivals to further preach the good word of lager to folks far and wide. Most haven’t heard of us, so now we’ve given them one more reason to come visit the next time they’re in Chicago.
